Wallingford Recycles!

Effective September 1, 2008 the State of Texas has enacted into law HB 2714. The law requires manufacturers to provide Texas households and home businesses with a free and reasonably convenient collection of unwanted computers, monitors, keyboards and mice for reuse and/or recycling.

The following devices are covered under the Texas Law:
• Monitors
• Desktop computers
• Notebook computers and,
• Their accompanying keyboard and mouse

All manufacturers of computer systems that brand these devices with their logo or tag are required to accept these devices to be reused and/or recycled in accordance with the procedures outlined in HB 2714. If a manufacture of computer systems does not have a approved recycled plan registered with the TECQ they are prohibited from selling their product in the state of Texas.

Any of these devices that bare the manufactures logo or tag regardless of age must be accepted back to the manufacturer at no cost to the consumer. The consumer is responsible for any confidential information left on the computer and may be required to pay a fee for the safe removal thereof. Business, Government and Schools do not qualify for free recycling only consumers of computer equipment purchased primarily for personal or home-business use. Wallingford Computer Services does not brand the monitor, keyboard or mouse, only the computer (CPU) carries our specific brand. Each computer must have either a Wallingford logo plate or a Wallingford Serial Number sticker to qualify.

Consumers can return our old computer equipment for recycling at 6721 North Lamar, Austin, Texas 78752 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM M-F (excluding holidays). If you are outside the Austin are, call us at 512-452-1620 to have a prepaid shipping label sent to you or find out if there is an alternate drop-off location in your area.
